An absorbable multifilament sleeve, TYRX technology helps in reducing the infection in patients with Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED) that are commonly implanted for the treatment of various cardiac rhythms. The device gives a stable environment for pacemaker pulse generator or defibrillator to hold itself securely upon implantation into the body of the patient and gets fully absorbed by the body approximately nine weeks after implantation. This product has a shelf life of about one year. Many medical efforts, including use of antibiotics have not been able to reduce the rate of infections leading to a lot of pain and suffering in patients. The pacemaker is placed in the TYRX pocket and then implanted, which contains the antimicrobial agents, which helps in reducing infections of bacterial challenge following surgical implantation of the generator or defibrillator and is locally delivered, which can sustain for a week’s time.
