This Article deals with the New Registration Policy of the Swiss Agency, published on May 22, 2022 by Swiss Medic. Medical Device Manufacturers are now needing additional consultants to assist them with the CHRN.
Swissmedic, the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products, assigns the Swiss Single Registration Number (CHRN) to manufacturers, authorized representatives, and importers. In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices (IvDO; SR. 812.219) are also registered with Swissmedic. Swissmedic must wait for the MRA to be updated before it can provide a European Single Registration Number (SRN) for economic operators.
The application procedure for a CHRN is thoroughly explained in the information sheet in the source link. Within three months of releasing their initial product into the Swiss or Liechtenstein market, business operators must register. Once an economic operator has registered, it does not have to do so again when placing further products on the market.
