The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a draft of guidelines to ensure high drug quality standards in the market. Various recommendations, methodogical approaches have been provided in the draft. Comments are welcomed till 30th September 2015, and the topic will be presented in 50th WHO Expert Committee meeting held on October 2015. READ ALSO: Open Drugs Database in India.
In India, a nationwide drug samples testing has been initiated by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) along with National Institute of Biologicals (NIB) to make sure of amount of non-standard drugs. WHO also said, “the quality of good medicine available for patients must be ensured, and the NMRA’s (national medicines regulatory authorities) can use various regulating instruments to make this possible. The post market surveillance and maintenance of products were also needed to monitor the quality of drugs.
