CDSCO Medical Device Classification in India: Gastroenterology Products as Medical Device

CDSCO Gastroenterology Device Classification: India Rules

Introduction Gastroenterology as Medical Device India

Classification of Gastroenterology Products is covered in this article. Risk based classification lists have been made by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) for Gastroenterology Products in order to make sure that they comply with international standards of safety and efficacy. This classification will help the manufacturers of these devices in knowing the level of risk and usage of their devices.

India is Updating Existing Risk Based Classifications for Gastroenterology Products

According to the MED-16014(12)/1/2024-eoffice dated January 6th, 2025, 10 devices belonging to this category have now been upgraded from Class A to Class A (Self Notified). This has made the compliance process easier for devices which are of low risk. It is consistent with the CDSCO medical device classification in India guidelines. The manufacturers have to register their devices in accordance with the medical device registration in India guidelines. You can see the complete list of devices along with their respective upgraded classification in this document.

Table: Gastroenterology Products classification in India as per the updated medical device rules:

This is the table which gives the reclassification of products into the new classification system for Gastroenterology Products. The products that have been reclassified into Class A (self notified) have been marked in dark grey color.
