The Indian FDA (CDSCO) has extended the time frame of importation of Drugs with less than 60% shelf life by three months. On April 17, 2020, the DCGI had received notices from the Medical Device Manufacturer’s informing them that due to the pandemic, the clearance and transportation of drugs was becoming difficult and hence the shelf life was dropping below 60%. Hence, the CDSCO allowed importation of drugs with less than 60% shelf life. As per the notice, the circular would have expired in July, however the CDSCO has extended this deadline to October 31, 2020.
