Catheter Technology To Be Introduced For Patients With Heart Ailments

Dr. Jaya Kirthy Rao is on the verge of launching an Advanced Catheter Technology for treating arrhythmia. The treatment would be a first time in India for patients suffering from heart ailments. “We are launching Contact Force Sensing Technology for atrial fibrillation in the coming months. Specialized catheters are used inside the heart using the technology”, said Dr. Jaya Kirthy Rao, who is an electrophysiologist.

From the research, Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is found to be the common electrical disturbance of the heart, known as arrhythmia. This problem is mostly witnessed in the ageing people. The main effects of AF are due to clot formation in the heart and its squeal including a brain stroke clots in various arteries of the body. It also can lead to heart failure due to the rapid heart rates causing breathlessness and fatigue.

For betterment of the patients, this advanced technology will help in moving to safer ways of performing ablation referring Contact Force Sensing Technology. Special catheters with this technology can actually analyse how much pressure is being applied. There are certain areas in the heart which are thinner than the rest. These days there are lot of technologies coming up into the medical field to help patients in their betterment, one of those was – Now, Your Smart Phone Can Help Diagnose Ear Infection.

“The advanced Catheter technology can actually show the amount and the direction of force being applied and thus could avoid excess pressure helping prevent perforation and also help avoid less force leading to better local tissue damage and better lasting success” Rao added.
