The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) delegates deputy drug controller (DDC), sub zone, Shanthy Sunashekaran to issue NoC’s for the Karnataka manufacturers of unapproved / approved new drugs / banned drugs for exports. Before the manufactures has to travel Chennai to obtain the NoC for manufacturing the mentioned drugs for exports. The proactive follow up by the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) and the commerce ministry has made this initiative to progress in the CDSCO office. Director General of Pharmexcil, Dr P V Appaji said that the process of travelling to Chennai is costly and time consuming for the drug manufacturers of Karnataka. He added, “It comes as a great news for us that the DCGI (Drug Controller General of India) has favourably considered our request on priority basis and issued this order, which is sure to go a long way in helping the exporters from Karnataka to contribute in the growth of pharma exports of our country.” It is to be noted that Karnataka has 7 US FDA, 8 MHRA and 82 WHO certified plants.
