India eliminated Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) addressed Prime Minster Narendra Modi in a Call to Action Submit, 2015. Representatives of 24 nations attended the conference and the Prime Minister of India, said “I am happy to share with you today another major milestone achieved by India. India has eliminated maternal and neonatal tetanus. The validation for this has happened much before the global target date of December 2015. This gives us the confidence to achieve other targets well before the target date”.
The Indian HealthCare Market is seeing lots of changes, striving to give quality medical devices/drugs by to the patients by proper regulatory framework. The recent achievements of the CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organization) – the regulatory body of India is one such example on the process and elimination of Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus shows how Indian Healthcare is moving forward. Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) is one of the consequences of unclean deliveries and umbilical cord care practices. In the absence of proper medical care the mortality rates are really high on the development of tetanus. He added that the mortality rates have declined to under five mortality rate with an accelerated speed. This would make India reach the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) targets if the current trend is followed without interruption.
