CDSCO to Maintain Inventory for Veterinary Medicines

There has been a standard regulation in practice for the medicines used for human but there are no strict measures for the usage of veterinary medicines. As a result, the veterinarians says there is misuse of the medicines, overdosing which could be a threat to humans and also badly affects the health of the animals.

This made the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) draw an inventory of prescribed veterinary medicines. Dr GN Singh, Drug Controller General (India) has issued an order to all states and union territories to give the list of veterinary medicines. “The decision has been made to prepare a comprehensive list of veterinary medicines which are approved in India” said Dr. GN Singh. The list would have the product name and strength, name of the manufacturer, approval date, compositions, indications of use and its storage conditions.
