India and European Union will start researching on health focusing “Diagnostics and interventions in chronic non-communicable diseases” to develop and support the innovation between India and Europe. The research will focus on developing tools and techniques for diagnostics, interventions and mechanism in chronic non-communicable diseases. The project is funded through INNO-INDIGO Era-Net project by the European Commission.

As India’s economic growth and lifestyle is considerable leading to chronic diseases such as diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, hypertension, skin diseases, this project initiative by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) is significant. The financial crisis is also considerable due to the chronic nature for both India and Europe shows they share common issues in the field of health. The higher demand for cost efficient and affordable healthcare solutions, reduce human toll they need technologies for treating and preventing chronic non-communicable diseases.
